Born in South Africa, Rene Botha immigrated to Canada at the age of 14.

Inspired by the versatility and genius of Leonardo Da Vinci and Michelangelo, she has been drawing, painting, sculpting, writing and playing music all her life.

After graduating from high school, Rene studied the human form in great detail by obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Anatomy. Along with taking courses at Emily Carr, Rene built a solid foundation to pursue the art of tattooing.  If you back track a bit you will find this foundation actually started a long time before she ever went to school.  Rather, it started at the seasoned age of 3 when at any given time you could find Rene drawing, singing or running with lions.

When she’s not at the tattoo shop, Rene is hard at play jamming with her band Low Spin.  Being a musician and tattoo artist complement each other very well.  She loves the challenge both professions bring while allowing her the flexibility required to be creative.  Rene’s ambition is to someday be on tour with her band while doing guest spot’s in each city her band performs in.

Since completing her apprenticeship under renowned artist Justina Kervel in the spring of 2010, Rene has focused on incorporating elements of realism into her work which projects a distinct style as a tattoo artist.

Rene works Thursday-Friday-Saturday-Sunday from 12-7pm.  Her rate is $150/hr.
